I want to share a that prophetic word that I got very recently. The Holy Spirit said to me just as I was waking up, “keep your eyes on the prize”. I believe this word is for the body of Christ to keep our eyes on the price and for us to focus on what matters most to the heart of God.

I asked the Holy Spirit what was the prize He was referring to and he said the word had a two-fold meaning. One was in reference to the prize of our salvation and the rewards of our faith in Christ.

Every great athlete knows that they set their eyes on the prize of winning the race even before they run the race. They can see themselves with the cup or trophy even before the race. That’s a great example of how to keep our eyes on the prize. Paul said in Phil 3:14 ” I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us”.

The other refers to the billion soul harvest that has been prophesied by Bob Jones. It’s going to be the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever seen. It would be a revival on a scale that the Church has ever experienced and we are like the midwives preparing the Church for the birth of this revival.

We are right on the verge of this great out pouring and we need to keep our eyes on the prize. How do we prepare for the outpouring? Well, we can take our example from the early Church and see how they prepared for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. In that outpouring on the first day 3,000 people got saved as Peter preached about repentance in Acts 2:41.

What were some of the key things that the early Church did to prepare for this outpouring?

  1. Waiting in His presence.

Jesus said in Luke 24:49 “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (NIV). The word stay in Greek is “kathisate” which means to “make to sit”, “appoint”. Literally means to sit and wait as if for an appointment. It’s not a passive sitting but a sitting with an expectation that someone is coming or something is about to happen. It’s like sitting a waiting for a train to arrive, you wait in anticipation like it’s going to arrive any minute. We need to wait in His presence in anticipation that He will pour out His glory upon us. In our moments of waiting there should be prayers, intercession and thanks giving.

  1. Worship

One of the things the disciples did while they were waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit was worship. Luke 24:53 “And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God”. During this time of waiting in preparation for the outpouring of God, there would be spirit led worship and spontaneous praise.

  1. Unity

Another key factor in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1 is that the believers were all together in one place in unity. This speaks of the unity amongst the believers and how we need to be united in our pursuit to see His glory manifested in all the earth. We may not all be united in doctrine but we must be united in the faith and in our desire to bring glory to His name.

  1. Bringing in the harvest.

Jesus said in Matt 9:37 “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”. We must pray for more laborers to be brought into the harvest field. We need all hands on deck, just like Peter signaled to his fellow fishermen in Luke 5:6-7 “When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink”. We must be willing to work beyond denominational lines and help one another in bringing in the billion soul harvest.
